Tennessee Jump$tart

Tennessee Jump$tart is a non-profit organization comprised of approximately 50 individuals and organizations representing business, government and education who have joined together to improve the personal financial literacy of Tennessee’s youth.

Who We Are

Tennessee Jump$tart is a non-profit organization comprised of approximately 50 individuals and organizations representing business, government and education who have joined together to improve the personal financial literacy of Tennessee’s youth.

Tennessee Jump$tart conducted its first meeting in September 2000 and has since been a leader in financial literacy. In 2009, Tennessee Jump$tart was recognized as the State Coalition of the Year by the National Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. Selection for the award was based on the coalition’s effectiveness and innovation in reaching teachers as well as the coalition’s overall high quality programming.

Mission

To improve the financial literacy of Tennessee's consumers, with a special focus on the state's youth, through the support and strengthening of current financial literacy programs and the development of new and innovative ones. 

Objectives

  1. Raise public awareness. 
  2. Enhance professional development of Tennessee educators (school and nontraditional). 
  3. Promote membership, communication and cooperation among coalition members. 
  4. Establish firm organizational structure including budget. 
  5. Develop and promote personal finance legislation.

 

Tennessee Jump$tart is an independent affiliate of the national Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy. The national Jump$tart Coalition is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, DC.  Founded in 1995, the coalition includes more than 100 national partners and a network of 51 state affiliates that share a commitment to #afinlitfuture and to working collaboratively toward common goals.
